What is the International Baccalaureate?

Gimnasio del Norte prides itself in being part of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). We are also proud of offering our students a permanent environment of critical and integral education, required for the present and future challenges of our contemporary society. Currently, the IBO is one of the most important organizations in international education; it involves approximately 5000 schools in 150 countries, including Gimnasio del Norte. Their academic structure offers three rigorous educational programs for students of ages 3 to 19 years: The PYP (Primary Years Programme), The MYP (Middle Years Programme) and the DP (Diploma Programme).

A few Colombian schools have achieved the acknowledgement and the approval to offer the whole International Baccalaureate Program. Gimnasio del Norte is one of them. This implies a greater commitment and dedication for the administrative body, teachers, school parents and students. The IB Organization schedules continuous visits and audits.
This fact demands that our teachers engage themselves in constant updates by means of the workshops offered by the IBO community. It is worth mentioning that our school has a high degree of commitment with the International Baccalaureate philosophy; in fact, several teachers are certified IB members, not only as educators or workshop leaders, but also as examiners at an international level. These professionals give workshops, visits and consultancy worldwide, which is directly beneficial to all of our students.
